In preparation for an upcoming JCAHO accreditation process, BESLER Consulting was engaged by a large New Jersey healthcare system to perform a JCAHO assessment for one of the hospitals in the system. The engagement objective was to assist the hospital in assessing, identifying, and correcting potential compliance issues related to the JCAHO standards and to provide clear, concise recommendations for corrective action. This New Jersey healthcare system typically uses internal resources and other external consulting firms to conduct JCAHO readiness surveys. However, this particular hospital, which traditionally had not performed as well as the others in prior years, engaged BESLER Consulting for the second time to ensure ratings improvement.
For the last survey 3 years ago, the hospital received a score of 94. Since BESLER Consulting performed so well for the last Triennial Survey, the System asked the BESLER Consulting Accreditation Compliance Team to return. This time, the Hospital scored a 97, receiving the highest rating in the system.
Today the promotion of quality is a key component of a successful JCAHO Survey campaign. More and more healthcare organizations are promoting the JCAHO Accreditation process and the corresponding rating score to promote quality.
