Magnet designation recognizes excellence in all aspects of nursing services.  Achieving this elite designation, however, is an arduous task.  According to the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), as of March 2007, only 4.06% of the nation’s hospitals have achieved ANCC Magnet Recognition® status.

 

To be recognized, hospitals must pursue a rigorous application process that culminates in a site survey, where nursing services, clinical outcomes, patient care delivery and a multitude of other quality indicators are scrutinized.
